To Smoke or to Eat? Vegas HotSpots must make choice

Anti-smoking laws aren't new, but for Las Vegas, it's a whole new ballgame. For many places around the strip that obviously cater to the night life and everything surrounding gambling, smoking has long been an accepted form in Vegas.

However, now that there are certain anti-smoking bans in effect, Vegas officials have concluded that hotspots must make a choice: either allow smoking or operate as a restaurant--you can't have both. For a while now, night clubs have circumvented this by allowing smoking during non-restaurant hours, but officials say that is a no-no.

This could mean potentially huge losses for places like Mandalay Bay's Rumjungle or the Venetian's Tao,and after a year-long battle, it appears that they will have to take the brunt somewhere--either lose money in the kitchen or lose money because patrons won't be there due to anti-smoking. Somehow though I think there will some kind of "agreement" that is made so both can co-exist....it always does!
