The 2004 National Gambling Act was to include online gambling, stipulating the commencement of the legislation for regulation of interactive gambling to be addressed within two years from the date of the Act. Well, we can all do math, and we know that didn't happen in that timeframe. Well, finally we have some answers.
Citing the need for regulation of the interactive gambling industry which, has for the most part, been as rampant as you could possibly imagine with "rime, criminal elements, little or no protection of players, uncontrolled exposure of children and other persons vulnerable to gambling and a host of other negative factors", it was certainly time to get things going on the legislation.
The challenges with this change are how to really control everything, from the marketing of the product to protecting underage persons with the gambling industry. The government certainly has a potentially large can of worms on their hands, so this could play out even longer before the dust settles.
