Slots to get more techy, more vid-game friendly

slots.jpgAs the crowds of blue hairs continue to literally die off from the slot machine world, engineers and Vegas industry experts have noted that the 21-40 crowd is starting to be targeted for the slots, as different methodologies and even the operations of the machines themselves will see changes in the near future.

Taking a page from the video game industry, word is that the machines may lose their "arms" altogether and that more joystick-type operations will start to turn up. Bally has even made a deal with Atari to develop some games, and that the old-time "Pong" game is in the works, with cash being given for the amount of "hits" back and forth a player can do. So, it seems that not only will the slots be games of simply chance, but perhaps it will combine the skill level that so many gamers have become accustomed to in our "Xbox" society.

Vegas would be smart to start rolling these out as soon as possible before the slotting numbers start to turn; for one thing, poker has already taken a lot of money from the house simply in the increased numbers of players, as the house gets a very low percentage of poker playing. If they can't rejuvenate what takes up the bulk of their square footage in slots, we may see a substantial decrease in the billion dollar industry. Stay tuned.
