More controversy for Ontario's lottos

piggy_bank.jpgAs if lotto retailers stealing from unobservant winners wasn't embarrassing enough, here's another gut-shot to the credibility of Ontario gaming.

The Gambling Watch Network has reportedly complained to Ontario's ombudsman that scratch tickets are sold even after the top prizes have been won. A spokesman for the watchdog group said retailers should stop selling tickets if the buyer has no chance of winning the jackpot.

While "no chance of winning" the main jackpot isn't much worse than the best case scenario of "pretty much no chance of winning," it does seem only fair that buyers are made aware when they whacking at an empty piƱata.
