Miller adds name to internet gambling bill

This battle for internet gambling has had so many sides and so many different stories it is almost dizzying as to what will happen next. But, we have a possible direction--United States Congressman George Miller of California, who is also chairman of the House Democratic Policy Committee and the House Education and Labor Committee, has agreed to co-sponsor the Internet Gambling Regulation and Enforcement Act. This is the same bill that was presented last year by Massachusetts representative Barney Frank, and the key measure would allow licensed operators to provide Internet gambling services in the U.S.

This is a major, major step in trying to get huge momentum, as one of Miller's key responsibilities is to continue helping Democrats develop and articulate a wide range of policies of benefit to all Americans. Miller also has a long record of key legislative achievements and is a leading advocate in Congress on education, labor, the economy, and the environment.

The idea behind the support is quite simple--tax money that would benefit the government, which has been estimated to range in taxes of between 8 billion and almost 43 billion in just its first ten years. While it is so hard to turn down money of any kind, you just cannot ignore the magnitude of importance this sets as precedent on so many levels. The plot continues to thicken.
