Katrina's anniversary observed by gamblers

What better way to mark the solemnity of the one-year anniversary of the havoc wreaked by hurricane Katrina than to hit the roulette wheel?

Beau Rivage Resort and Casino, once the crown jewel of Mississippi's Gulf Coast gaming industry, reopened for business Tuesday on the one-year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina's landfall.

It's actually a positive for the region, provided the patrons are mainly tourists and not the locals who were already financially decimated a year ago. Casinos can provide a nice influx of cash to local government and some reasonable employment opportunities for the people. And by choosing the one-year anniversary, it's a nice little F-you to any hurricane that may consider making landfall this season.
