I have a love affair with my bones. They support me though most of life's adventures (aside from the odd clavicle fracture) and they're always around when I need them. I feel like most people likely have a similar relationship with their ossiferous friends. With that being the case, why in the world would they put them through something like this?
At first I thought poor Trigger Gumm was only trying to break the world record for motorcycle jumping, and was willing to wager his own health and safety against this ultimate glory. The chance to have one's name in tiny print in Guiness, slotted somewhere between the guy with the 3 foot long toe-nails and the dude who was buried in a piano crate. So who was the previous record-holder that would have been relegated to show-jumping history? It seems it was one Trigger Gumm. He already had the record. So instead of this being a battle for immortality, it was more a straight-up bet. Trigger's bones against the cash to perform. The good news is he probably got the money even though he missed the jump. The bad news? The bones.
