California Indian Tribes at odds, launching campaign to stop Gambling Agreements

The Pala and the United Auburn Tribe of California are not happy, and they are taking their agendas to the people--by launching a signature campaign that may end up getting well over 500,000 signatures.

The issue? There are four other tribes in California that have signed gambling agreements with the state/businesses, worth billions of dollars, while these tribes do not have such agreements, and therefore are crying foul.

The Desert Sun reports that the two tribes will contribute over 1 million dollars to assist in the campaign, noting "...The money will aid Unite HERE, a labor union, and the Bay Meadows Land Co., which owns two horse racing tracks, to collect 433,971 signatures for each of four referenda to give voters a chance to kill the four revised compacts at the Feb. 5 presidential primary election."

This could get ugly...stay tuned!!
