Bet on the end of the writer's strike

Pinnacle Sportsbook has put up a proposition bet that people can lay money on a cutoff date for the writer's strike. The odds are +152 for it ending prior to 5 PM PST Feb 24 and -162 for it ending after that time. Obviously, the bookmakers have little faith that a deal will be made anytime soon.

The writer's strike is impacting so many things right now, and while TV shows are starting to basically have their seasons "end" in the middle of things, etc., it will also have a trickle-down effect in the movie industry. Since most movies are greenlit and then made within 2 years of such, this means that the movie buffet in late 2009 and early 2010 will be lean at best. Perhaps that will be a timeframe where we can all become more cultured and take in some indie films, eh?

Don't bet on it.
