Absolute Poker fined 500K

abpoker.jpg

Potripper...a handle that will live in infamy. The "superuser" who basically cheated in winning pots left and right and not folding a hand before the flop for 20 minutes straight left officials at Absolute Poker dumbfounded at how someone could see the "hole cards", IP addresses, and much more, has ended up with the online poker giant holding a fine of 500,000.

While some will say that this doesn't fit the crime, the fact is that online poker players everywhere now have had their trust levels raised much the way the US raises homeland security levels. Any players who go on hot runs will probably now be looked at extensively on every site imaginable, and it's going to take some time before the integrity of what many were already fearful of happened begins to restore the trust of everyone surrounding the game.

Absolute Poker initially denied that any cheating had occurred, but later reversed course and paid any player that had lost money to the accounts in questions. Absolute Poker also said at the time that it had closed the security breach. Let's hope so.
