Absolute Poker Jackpot now at 300K

When it comes to attracting Texas Hold'em poker players to the online poker tables, Absolute Poker definitely has the chip lead. As of Wednesday afternoon ET, the jackpot of Absolute Poker's popular Bad Beat Jackpot game had reached at an impressive $300,000. That number is nearly 10 times as big as Party Poker's Bad Beat Jackpot, which sat at just over $31,000. Party Poker, however, is not open to US players--doh!

Bad Beat Jackpot is just like regular Texas Hold'em Poker but with a slight twist. When seated at a Bad Beat Jackpot poker table, if a player loses a Texas Hold'em poker hand while holding four 8s or anything better, they will win a chunk of the Bad Beat Jackpot.

To help the jackpot build, $0.50 is collected from qualifying hands at Bad Beat Jackpot poker tables. The jackpot will keep growing until someone hits a qualifying bad beat, at which time a large percentage of it is distributed amongst the bad beat victim and the participants in the online poker hand. The next poker player to lose a hand holding four 8s or anything better will win a large piece of the new jackpot. The participants in the bad beat hand will also share in the winnings.
